Godly Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a choice, we can choose to forgive or not to forgive.
But Forgiveness is a wonderful gift that God has given us, we definitely don't deserve it. And because of this precious gift, he has set himself as a role model for us to learn to forgive one another (forgiveness made possible no matter how bad we are hurt). Because no one is perfect in this world, we all got to learn to forgive one another and receive forgiveness at one time or another.
God's forgiveness means that our sin's no longer stand as a barrier between us and God. That brings back to a connection with Him. And that is also true for human forgiveness. Which means to pardon the offender and welcoming the offender back into your life. But i believe that in order to experience God's forgiveness, people must respond by repentance and faith in Christ. To receive forgiveness, we must acknowledge our sin and accept His forgiveness.
"If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins"
God is always willing to forgive for those who repent. But God did not say continue to forgive one's wrong doing.The Scriptures says that Jesus prayed , "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Jesus express His heart of compassion and His desire to see His murderers forgiven. That should be our desire and prayer. But their forgiveness came later when they acknowledged that they had indeed killed the son of God.
And so i came out with this little formula
Reconciliation= (Confession+Repentance) + Forgiveness
With confession and repentance express by the offender, the offended can give forgiveness to the offender who receives, then true reconciliation could be made complete. To become a loving growing relationship.

"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Matthew 6:14-15)
Perhaps you consider yourself a forgiving person, but you are now facing someone whom you cannot forgive. Whenever you struggle to forgive, you need to revisit what you were like when God first forgave you. Ephesians 2 indicates you were a “foreigner” and a “child of wrath.” Yet God forgave your most grievous sin and rebellion against Him. While you were still rejecting God, Christ died for you (Rom. 5:8). This being so, how can you refuse to forgive those who sin against you? Forgiveness is not a spiritual gift, a skill, or an inherited trait. Forgiveness is a choice. Jesus looked down on those who had ruthlessly and mockingly nailed Him to a cross, yet He cried out: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do” (Luke 23:34). How, then, can we refuse to forgive those who have committed offenses against us?
Jesus said that the measure in which we are forgiving is the same standard God will use in forgiving us. God’s ways are very different from ours. God’s forgiveness is not based on standards we determine, but on the standards He established in His Word. God allows for no exceptions when it comes to forgiveness.
As we truly understand God’s gracious forgiveness in our lives, we will naturally want to express this same forgiveness to others (Eph. 4:32; Col. 3:13). Before you ask God for His forgiveness, take a moment to examine_the condition of your relationships. Would you want God to forgive you in the same way you are presently_forgiving others?
