Godly Pursuits

Romans 14:19
Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.

Actually wanna email the devotions i had today. Sadly it is not available on the net. But luckily i got this blog. Still can jot down my devotions here.

I remember the 2 Es that we ought to learn in cell group, that is Edification and Evangelism. A mark of spiritual maturity is a willingness to sacrifice personal comfort in order to strengthen other believers. I believe it is a difficult task. Its not about being right or wrong, but building one another up. This is what edifying is all about.

The 2 Es are basically build up by the fundamentals of God's love. Without love, i think we eliminate one another rather than edify one another. Without God's love, evangelism becomes a chore, no joy in it. Without understanding God's love and concerns for His people, it is impossible to edify and evangelize.

Jesus taught his disciples that they could express no greater love than to lay down their lives for one another. And yes! We as disciples also ought to have this same mindset, to devote to strengthen one another to the extend of laying down our lives. This is God's love.

But many times the another "L" always takes place in church, Lust. Sadly many people in church cannot differentiate Lust and Love. They are a whole lot of difference. People are often deceived of doing good when they actually Lust.

People lust for one another for their very selfish needs. There are many examples, lust for status, power, recognization, sex, attention from opposite sex. Some even have biblical claims for their lust. One sign of it is when people start to rationalize about it. You will know something is not right though it looks nice and Godly on the outside. I believe it always happens. It only looks good for a start and on the surface. I came to realize The consequences of sin is no joke.

LUST KILLS God's people and His church. Sin is the ultimate destruction. People murder, kill, slander and fight over everything. With jealousy, anger, control, wickedness... all these are real. It can and it is happening to us, even Christians.

And so the more we should confess our sins and commit ourselves to God for His very own purpose! Not ours! We need to put in every effort to edify and evangelize by the power and grace of God. It can be done. Lets us pray for ourselves and one another, because we need it so much.

Remember God's msg
Repent to UpRoot
Replace to Take Root
Revive to Bear Fruit
